3 years on: in memoriam

Today Japan marks the third anniversary of the horrific earthquake and tsunami which destroyed so many lives and led to the catastrophes at the Fukushima nuclear power facility. More than a quarter of a million people remain evacuees.

Tepco continues to struggle with the aftermath, trying to cope with controlling radioactive water leaking from the reactors. One outside advisor observed that the contaminated water poses more risks being stored on-site, but leaking 300 tons daily, and recommends a series of managed discharges into the ocean.

But today, let us all remember those who were lost, those who mourn them and hope that they find peace.
