Resist and Refuse

There is no safety after the election of Trump, not in America for Americans of many colors, many backgrounds, many genders and sexualities, and there is no safety world wide for people who want to breathe air that will not choke them with coal dust, or live in stable climates, or flee local wars. There is no safety anywhere for any of us who now live in constant threat of wars, blundered into or deliberately chosen, and under the shadow of vast nuclear arsenals under the control of a man with no self-control.

But we can use a symbol of sanity, a safety pin, to express solidarity with all of us who are unsafe, a symbol, I think, of resistance to the coming dark times, and a symbol of refusal to cooperate with those who will make those times so dark.
